Since the year 1408 tools are produced in Schmalaklden. Tradition, experience, large deposits of iron-ore and charcoal were the best prerequisites, to make Schmalkalden to a tool region. In the year 1516 there were already 26 factories, which produced drill-tools.
One of the descendants of the family Heller founded in the year 1849 the factory, where we are today still producing our drills.
