Glass drill

Glass drills

The glass drills are adapted to the specific characteristics of glass and ceramics. The cutting edge geometry is constructed in such a way, that problem-free drilling of these hard and brittle materials is executable.

In our assortment we offer spoon glass drills with steel shank and soldered carbide edge.

Application conditions:
  • Spoon glass drills are applicable only as machine drills.
  • Horizontal drilling is favourably for the wear characteristics of the drill and the quality of the drill hole.
  • The article, which is to be drilled, is to rest upon evenly and keep as movement-free as possible.
  • By drilling through the article, the pressure to the tool has to be reduced strongly, to avoid a breaking out of the glass at the edge of the drill hole (perhaps drilling from both sides).
  • The drilling of shifted winding and floor tiles is possible, but you have to pay attention, because the tool can be damaged, when the drill contacts rough concrete constituent parts.
  • If you use a percussion drill to the application, the impact machanism has to be switched off!
  • It can be drilled with or without plentifully coolant. Water is sufficient.
  • In case of thick glass we recommend to you a nose angle of the drill edge from 60-90°, in case of thin glass (thickness until 3 mm) 60° are appropriately.
